My week in Pictures

31 Mar 2012

Ok so I have been a bit busy this week to write some posts, so I thought I would do a little catch up post!

As you may know from my last post, I started working in London this week. It's only a temporary role, but I am quite enjoying it! So I had to buy a weeks travelcard, which is pretty expensive to say the least! I am not sure how long this work will last, but I am going to schedule some posts so that there is not a huge gap between posts :)

Come Tuesday I was feeling the strain of travelling so much each day, so thought I would treat myself to some Domino's pizza*. Now I don't know about you guys, but I love takeaway pizza, even if it is slightly calorific! (Good for a treat though right?) After ages contemplating the pizza menu I finally decided on trying out the new BBQ stuffed crust pizzas along with some chicken wings. I went for my favourtie Texas BBQ (without the bacon), if you haven't tried it - it is amazing. The BBQ stuffed crust was also a nice touch, they taste especially good dipped in the garlic and herb sauce <3 (ps this wasn't all for me lol, no way could I manage all of this myself)

I was sent some skin care to try out this week, so I have been giving that a test. The cleanser is a face wash, which I usually tend to stay away from as they can usually be quite drying for my dry skin, however I am pleasantly surpried! There will be a review coming up sometime soon :)

Lastly, today I am taking it easy. I have my Yankee candle burning away whilst I am chilling out and resting.

What have you guys been up to this week? Has anyone tried the BBQ stuffed crust pizza or the NouriFusion range? What did you think?

Hope you all have an amazing weekend :)

Lush : Twilight Bath Bomb

27 Mar 2012

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts recently! I have recently started a new job whereby I am travelling for 3 hours a day and so I am just adjusting to that :)

As you know, I love Lush products, and yet again the Twilight Bath Bomb is no exception (I wonder if I will ever find one I don't like?). I always take baths just before bed, as they are usually really relaxing, but this was not your normal relaxing bath. It is described as:
"If you are struggling to sleep, then this is perfect for using in the evenings. With lavender oil for when you need a bit of extra help to wind down.

We’ve added visuals to this bath to help your mind let go and embrace the night time. Twilight dissolves to create a growing sunset that gradually gets darker until you are finally left with the glimmer of stars.

To round off the night-embracing effects of this experience, the fragrance is based around the comforting smell of a malty night-time drink

With lavender and tonka oils at the heart, there are also notes of caramel and malt to enhance a sense of comfort and reassurance. She’ll pick you up, will Ovaltina :-)"

I am not a very big fan of Lavender to be honest, but this bomb is not over powering of the scent. The mixture of the Lavender and the other scents is the perfect combination that really is so relaxing.

Once the bomb was in the bath it began to fizz away very quickly to produce pink coloured bath water. All of a sudden I was pleasantly surprised to see the centre of the bomb is blue, which produced pretty blue swirls. Combined together I was left with a lovely purple coloured bath with lots of shimmer!

The water, as usual, was nice and soft and the white foam on top of the water left from the bath bomb was really soft on the skin. Also, as strange as this may seem, the noise of the foam moving reminds me of the sea tides coming in and out, which was quite relaxing!

Has anyone else tried Twilight? If so what did you think?

Shopping Haul

18 Mar 2012

Primark - £15
I have been on the hunt for a lace skater dress recently, but all the ones I have tried have been too short! Has anyone else had that problem? I bought a really pretty one from tfnc but I just couldn't wear it, so I had to return it. Then I tried a Missguided one, and yet again it was just too short and had to return it. Third time lucky it seems, and I found this one. I really love the colour, especially against the nude under dress (I think that is what they are called) and most importantly - it is not too short!!
F&F @ Tesco - £12
I saw Sabrina (A Little Obsessed) wearing these and instantly fell in love. They are very comfortable and can be worn casually or dressed up. They only bad thing about these boots is that they seem to pick up everything and anything, and having 3 cats means these boots are covered in cat hair before I have even had the chance to wear them!

New Look - £5

I have been looking for a new pair of black heels for a long time now, but just cannot seem to find a pair that I like or that fit comfortably. I popped into New Look and came across these, reduced from £30 to just £5. I couldn't believe it - I thought it may be an error but they were actually £5! They were not exactly what I was looking for, but I couldn't say no for that price and they are surprisingly comfortable and I actually really like them!

Primark - £3

Lastly, also from Primark I purchased this little bag - reduced from £8 to £3. I love the detailing and the short strap - most small bags tend to have longer straps so this is quite unusual! It is also surprisingly big inside and so I can fit a lot of stuff into it, which is great becuase I always seem to fill my bags up with unecessary stuff.

I hope you like my purchases! If anyone knows where to get some nice black court shoes please let me know! I can only find ones with ridiculous heels on them, and although I like a heel I don't want to worry about breaking my neck in them!

Hope you had a lovely weekend :)

MAC Cultured Lipglass

16 Mar 2012

L: Cultured over MAC Please Me R: Cultured

MAC Cultured: mac cosmetics (£13.00)

In a previous post, I mentioned I won a MAC Lipstick of my choice; I also got to choose a Lipglass to go with it. Cultured is mauve pink colour with hints of golden shimmer, and looks gorgeous on its own or paired with another lipstick. Cultured appears to go especially well with Please Me as shown in a swatch above.

The formulation of this Lipglass is not too sticky and has great staying power lasting up to around 3 or 4 hours. As with the lipsticks, it has a light vanilla scent – which I love, and is quite moisturising. It is not quite as pigmented as it appears in the tube, however this is not a bad thing as it means it is great for both day and evening. Overall, I really like how this lipglass looks on and I also really like the formulation.

What was your first MAC lipglass? What do you think of Cultured?

MAC Please Me Lipstick

14 Mar 2012

MAC Please Me: mac cosmetics (£13.50)
I was lucky enough to win a MAC Lipstick of my choice from the lovely Kayleigh @ Couture Girl and so I chose Please Me, a lovely blue toned mid pink. Although I have tried many MAC products before, I have yet to try their Lipsticks (shame on me!), so I was very excited to try it out.
I was a bit reluctant at first to choose a matte lipstick as there is the stigma that they are very drying, and suffering from dry lips myself I thought this may be a problem. However, the formulation of matte MAC lipsticks are quite smooth and generally I can get away without applying lip balm first. Please Me is very pigmented, with lasting power of up to around 5 hours, and has a lovely vanilla scent. I can now see why MAC lipsticks are so popular, and I cannot wait to try more out.
What was your first MAC lipstick? What do you think of Please Me?

End of Beauty Spending Ban

9 Mar 2012

As you may remember for the whole of February I was on a beauty spending ban, which was a success! I still haven't purchased any beauty items but I know this will change soon :)
During February I was also trying to use up products as I had so much make-up and toiletries that I was running out of space. Although not as successful as I had hoped, I still managed to use up quite a few products. So here are my February empties.
I loved both of these products. Garnier moisturisers are one of my favourites and this one is lovely. It sinks into the skin really quickly, which is always nice when you are in a rush to get dressed. It also smells nice and fresh and leaves your skin moisturised - definitely recommend this and would repurchase.
St. Moriz creates a lovely tan and is my go to fake tan. I do not fake tan too often, but St. Moriz does exactly what I want in a fake tan. It goes on evenly, it is not orange and lasts for up to a week. The only negative is that it can sometimes fade patchy, but I find that if I exfoliate and moisturise correctly then this is not a problem.
Joop! Thrill is a favourite purfume of mine which I received from my boyfriend last year. The bottle may not be the most extravagent but it does smell lovely and lasts a long time. It is quite a sweet scent, with hints of woody and floral scents - definitely worth a sniff!
Batiste dry shampoo is always a favourite (except for XXL!). The floral and flirty blush scent is not too strong and is great on second day hair - definitely recommend this.
I have mixed feelings about the Revlon Beyond Natural foundation, at first I hated it, then I loved it. It supposedly matches your skin colouring, which is perfect during summer months when you get a tan. However, when I came to the end of the tube it began to go too dark, as shown in the picture above. The foundation has small black balls which seem to react with your skin to create the suitable colour but over time they had gathered at the bottom, hence why it was so dark.
The Clinique liquid facial soap is quite drying, and as I already have dry skin this is not really suitable for me. Luckily it was just a small sample so I did not waste any money on it.
This was my first time trying these Soap and Glory face wipes, and I had heard so many good things about them. They smell exactly like the Fab Pore Soap and Glory Mask and do a good job at removing all my make-up. I especially love the "wetness" of these face wipes as I really cannot stand wipes that are too dry - will be repurchasing.
Has anyone else been on a spending ban recently? If so how did it go?
Hope you all have a lovely weekend,

USA Beauty Swap

7 Mar 2012

So last month I did a beauty swap with the lovely Nicole (Happy Girls are the Prettiest) from USA. This gave us both the chance to try out products that we cannot get in our own country and is a lovely surprise when it comes.

I have to say Nicole did a great job at picking things I would like, there is not one product that I dislike. I will do a short review of each product to let you all know what I think :)

Read my Palm - Sephora by OPIA lovely turquoise mint colour that applies like a treat! It is very opaque with one coat, dries almost instantly and lasts a long time. I also really like the bottle as it is a lot bigger than most we get here.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Tutti FruttiI was extremely excited to see this in my box! I have been looking forward to these coming out in the UK but unfortunately there has been a bit of a wait. These certainly live up to the hype, I cannot wait to try some others. Tutti Frutti is a lovely coral orange colour that really does melt on your lips and as you can see in the swatch, you can build it up as much as you like to achieve a colour suitable for yourself.

If you didn't know, Revlon Colourburst Lip Butters are available to buy online at Boots from today (unfortunately they are out of stock at the moment!) for £7.99 each or 2 for £10. But they will be available nationwide in store from 19th March.

True Blue Mini - Supremely Smoothing Face Scrub with Apricot and White Tea
I believe this is a miniature from Bath and Body Works. Having always wanted to try something from Bath and Body Works, I was also very excited to try this out. It smells divine and does a great job at removing dead skin etc. I love the miniature travel size as I travel around a lot so I can easily take this with me.

Smiths Rosebud Salve
I love how multipurpose this product is as you can see on the back. You can use it in places I would never think to such as on burns and blemishes. I have only used this on my lips so far and it is lovely, and to no surprise it smells like Roses :)

I had never heard of this before, but to my surprise I was recently walking around House of Fraser and found they actually have started selling this there! So if you want to try this, HoF is your best bet where it is priced at £8.00

Jingle Bellini Body Lotion
Lastly, another product from bath and body works. I have one word for this : amazing. I have found that if I apply this in the morning you can still smell it by the evening! It gives you a nice light moisture and I find this is great to use as an alternative to a perfume!

What do you think of the products?
Also a big big thank you to Nicole <3

P.s If anyone else is interested in a beauty swap then let me know as I would love to do more :)

L-R Copper Pot, Tropical Sun and Indian Ocean
After the great success of the Beetlejuice Autumn collection, Model's own are now releasing three brand new polishes to add to their Beetlejuice collection for summer. They are said to be inspiried by "mimicking a mirage of complex colour-shifting shades to produce these shimmering duo chrome colours."

Aren't they gorgeous? I loved the Autumn collection and would definitely recommend them as I have never seen anything like these! Personally I cannot wait to try Tropical Sun and Indian Ocean - which are you looking forward to trying out? What do you think of them?

Amour #006 - Stacked Bracelets

4 Mar 2012

With the lovely weather we have been having this week (ignoring today!) I have found myself changing my jewellery up a bit. During spring and summer months I love stacking bracelets as my arms/wrists are on show more often. I love mixing up different types of bracelets to create a fun and cute effect such as the following:

I am on the hunt for some lovely new bracelets, does anyone know anywhere that sells some cute ones?

Hope you had a nice weekend!
