Time to Get Fit - Asics Gel Galaxy 6 Running Shoes

28 Apr 2013

When I was younger I was very active, swimming 4 or 5 times a week, playing tennis and football.  However, once I started A-levels I decided to focus more on my studies. Then I went off to University and I joined the Cheerleading squad and Swim team, along with the gym (albeit I didn't use the gym very much).

Since leaving university I have found myself becoming quite lazy if I'm honest. I never joined the gym, and my only form of exercise was walking. I did decide to do the 30 day shred before I went on holiday to try and tone up a bit, but I wasn't really motivated after the 30 days.

So, with some motivation from Jayne's blog I have finally decided to join the gym and so far I am loving it! I have to admit I have only been to the gym once so far as I am quite intimidated by everyone else who seems to know what they are doing. However, there is also a swimming pool and so I can carry on my love for swimming. I have been going 2 or 3 times a week for now and find its a great way to work out.  It works all the muscles in your body and is therefore great at toning your body.

Since joining I have needed to kit myself out in new gym clothes! Weirdly, this actually makes me more motivated to go as I can't wait to wear my new outfits! After ordering 4 pairs of trainers I finally decided on a pair of Asics. My sports mad boyfriend recommended Asics and after reading up on running trainers they were highly recommended. Now, as far as trainers go, aren't they pretty? I love the neon pink, meaning they still look girly. They are also very very comfy and very supportive around your ankle which is exactly what you need.

So, this is the start of my health kick! I will update you along my journey if this is something you would like to read about :) I am also hoping to start running in the next few months once I get into my gym and swimming routine.

What are your hints and tips for getting fit and healthy? What is your favourite gym kit? I would love to hear from you all!

Sharing the Love #3

24 Apr 2013

Every now and then I like to share with you 3 blogs that I have been loving at the moment.  It can be hard sometimes to pick just 3, but this month there were some that just stood out, so here they are :)

I have been following Hannah Maggs for a while now and it is one of my favourite blogs at the moment.  Hannah is beautiful and has such a friendly personality, I am always excited to see a new post.  As a make-up artist, Hannah always has great tips on how best to apply your make-up, and I also love hearing her thoughts on different products. She also has the sweetest boyfriend, I mean just watch this video and you will see!

I found Melissa's blog a few weeks ago and I have been hooked ever since.  I remember when I first came across Pretty Little Obsessions I read through all the posts from start to finish and couldn't wait for more.  Another make-up artist, Melissas make-up is always the definition of perfection, she has many great product reviews and I always trust her word.

Victoria has the most gorgeous hair, I always have major hair envy when I see a new post on In the Frow.  I am not sure that I would ever have the guts to go pink or purple but it suits her so well! Victoria also has great fashion sense and provides great detailed reviews. She also does YouTube videos which I would also thoroughly recommend.

I hope this post has introduced some of you to some great new blogs, let me know if it has!

NOTD : Mango Madness

21 Apr 2013

I haven't posted a nail of the day for a long time now, most likely because since moving house I haven't really painted my nails much.  The majority of my polishes are still living in my old room in my parents house and so I only have around 15 different colours here.  I also find it hard to sit down and find the time to paint my nails these days, so today I decided to put some time aside to paint my nails.

During spring/summer I definitely reach more for brighter or pastel colours. Mango Madness from E.L.F is perfect for the transition from winter to spring and is one of my favourites in my collection at the moment.  You need to apply 2 coats otherwise it is a little sheer, otherwise I find this polish applies nicely.  This colour looks great with a tan, and it was my holiday favourite last year on my toenails.

What is your favourite nail polish colour at the moment?

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil Review

18 Apr 2013

Whilst in Brussels I ventured into a L’Occitane store and made my first ever purchase. The Almond Shower Oil has been on my wish list for a long time now and is dubbed as a very luxurious, decadent and pampering treat.

At £17.50 for 250ml this little beauty does not come cheap, so before splashing out on a full sized bottle I decided to purchase one of their smaller sizes and I'm very glad I did (Unfortunately they do not seem to sell this size in the UK). My first thoughts were just how amazing this product smells. Enriched with almond oil, it has the most gorgeous almond scent that smells just like marzipan.

Surprisingly, when the oil comes into contact with water it lathers up and transforms into a mousse like substance. This leaves your skin feeling silky smooth with a delicate scent. It is very hydrating, enough so that I often find there is no need to apply moisturiser afterwards. If you have any problems with dry skin, then you need to try this product.

A little really does go a long way, so although this product is expensive it will last you a long time. It is also a bit of a multi-purpose product as it can also be used in the bath or as shaving gel. This has to be my favourite shower product yet, and I will definitely be purchasing the full size product when I run out. I also received some free samples which I cannot wait to try!

What are your L’Occitane must haves?

March Empties

13 Apr 2013

So, it’s that time of the month again for my empties post :) I appear to have gone through a fair few number of products last month, so apologies for the mammoth of an essay!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Thermafoliant
I received this in a Glossy Box a few months ago and I have to say I am torn. Overall it is a very nice and effective exfoliant, however, is it really worth £42.10? I am not sure. It warms up when massaged onto the skin and it is also very delicate and not too abrasive.  However, I have used much cheaper exfoliants that appear to do exactly the same.
Would I buy this again? Possibly if it was on offer.

Johnsons Refreshing Facial Cleansing Wipes
OK, so I know some beauty bloggers loathe face wipes, I on the other hand love them. I would not recommend using them every day, however every now and then does no harm. The Johnson face wipes are one of my favourites as they are nice and moist, whereas some I find are too dry and therefore tug on your face. They also smell lovely and leave you feeling very refreshed.
Would I buy this again? Yes, definitely.

Soap and Glory 3 in 1 Daily Detox Vitamin C Facial Wash
I rarely use a face wash, and to be honest I am not even sure why! I tend to use creamy cleansers that are less harsh on my skin, however I do love this face wash. I kept this in the Shower, and would use it a few times a week. It did not dry out my skin, and would leave me feeling awake and refreshed.
Would I buy this again? Yes, definitely

Redken Blonde Glam Shampoo & Conditioner
I am a little mixed about these two. Sometimes I found that my hair looked lovely, soft and shiny. Whereas other times it would appear dull, darker than usual and generally just not nice. However, after speaking to my hairdresser about this, he informed me that this set contains a protein that if used continuously it can actually have a negative effect on your hair! Therefore I definitely feel in small quantities this shampoo and conditioner are great!
Would I buy this again? Yes, but not in any rush.

Soap and Glory Calm One All Bubble Bath
I rarely buy bottles of Bubble Bath as I love to use bath bombs and melts, however receiving this in the S&G Big Splendour Christmas set has certainly opened my eyes! It has the typical S&G smell and leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. I also found I only had to use a little liquid to produce a lot of bubbles, meaning it lasted me a good few months.
Would I buy this again? Yes, definitely

Body Shop Dreams Unlimited Shower Gel
This is another one that I received as a Christmas present from part of a set. I would not usually choose this scent as a shower gel, however it was quite a nice change! Having said that, I did have to stop using it for a while as it irritated my skin, so I am not sure it is for me.
Would I buy this again? No, as above it irritated my skin!

Impulse Loving Words Body Fragrance
As a young girl I always had an abundance of Impulse body sprays. I would not say they are my personal preference these days, however they are cheap and cheerful and are always nice to have in your handbag to freshen up.
Would I buy this again? Yes

Gillette Satin Care Pure and Delicate Shave Gel
This is my go to shaving gel and has been for as long as I can remember. I don’t really have much else to say other than it does the job just fine! My skin always feel soft and smooth and I rarely cut myself, what else would I want?
Would I buy this again? Yes!

Have you tried any of the above? If so let me know what you thought of them and if you would buy them again!

Neal's Yard Remedies - Camden Branch

7 Apr 2013

Hi girls, sorry for the lack of posts this week! It has been a very hectic week as my friend was getting married and so there was lots to sort out :)

Anywho, a few weeks ago I was invited to the Neal's Yard Remedy (NYR) store in Camden to celebrate the opening of their Therapy rooms. Having never tried their products (except for a free hand cream with Marie Claire) I was very excited to go along and learn more about the brand and their products .

Upon arrival at the store I was greeted by lovely NYR ladies, which also included the PR girls Jane, Nicola and Louise. I mingled amongst the bloggers and NYR employees, learning more about their products and what would suit me.  Highly recommended were the Frankincense Hydrating Cream and the Beauty Sleep Concentrate (which we received in the goody bag, so look forward to a review coming soon!).

Jane and Ryan started the event by giving us and introduction to the brand. Neal's Yard Remedy was founded in 1981 by a lady called Romy Fraser and began as an apothecary store.  Nowadays you will find a range of products in their stores, ranging from skin care and beauty products to herbs and essential oils. All of their products are made from natural ingredients to help give you as many benefits as possible.

We were then offered the chance to try out a treatment and so I went for the back and neck massage. The lovely Rosangela worked her magic, leaving me so very relaxed - I would highly recommend NYRs treatments, which range from acupuncture to Shiatsu.

I felt the Camden store was perfect for such an event as it is only a little store so it felt so much more intimate.  I have honestly never met such a friendly PR team and I hope I get to meet with them again in the near future!

Have you tried any NYR products/treatments before? If so, what are your favourites and what did you think of them?
