Amsterdam Day 1

For the May bank holiday my friends and I decided to travel to Amsterdam for a long weekend. The flight from Heathrow was only 40 minutes (amazing!), so we got there in no time. Once we arrived we got the train to central station and jumped on a tram to our fabulous apartment.

After a quick freshen up we went for a walk around the canals, and booked a bike tour for Saturday morning. The canals really are so beautiful and as you may be able to tell, there are cyclists everywhere, so crossing the road you need to look out for trams, cars and cyclists!


We came across the famous floating flower market and saw lots of tulips; real tulips, wooden tulips and of course tulip bulbs. We also ventured into many of the cheese shops to sample the delights and found a fast food chain selling burgers in vending machines!


 After a long day of exploring Amsterdam we headed back to the apartment to get changed. We went for dinner at Warie's Thai Food (a recommendation from our Airbnb owner) and out for a night on the town. After day 1 I was already in love with Amsterdam and was looking forward to our cycle in the countryside on day 2.

    I love Amsterdam and can't wait to go back it's such a gorgeous city. I went at Christmas and the lights were so pretty. We didn't do a bike tour as it was so cold but will next time we visit
