Amsterdam Day 2

After a late night on Friday we woke up on Saturday feeling a little worse for wear, but we had a four hour bike ride to look forward to. We arrived a little late to Mikes Bikes, where they were having their induction, and before we knew it we were on our way out of the city. We had a pit stop by one of the famous windmills, then made our way to a cheese farm to be shown how Gouda cheese and Hollands famous shoes are made. We continued around the countryside, taking in the lovely views, eventually making our way back to the city. This was a highlight of our trip in Amsterdam and I would thoroughly recommend Mikes Bikes, our tour guide was very informative and also very entertaining.

As the weather was so nice, we bought some ice cream and relaxed by the canal. We decided to go on an afternoon boat tour so headed towards the central station, where they all leave from. Unfortunately we had to queue for a while, but we managed to squeeze onto the back of the boat, out in the sunshine. As we were outside we couldn’t hear the commentary, but we didn’t mind too much as we could see all the sights and sit in the sun.

That night we were pretty tired, so we went home and had a glass of wine, relaxed for a bit and made our way to La Festa, a nice little Italian. It was very busy when we arrived, yet they were very friendly and accommodating and managed to squeeze us in. The food was lovely, the service was great and I even made a little friend in the restaurant cat.
