This post has been a long time coming, after all we got back from Borneo over 2 months ago. Our first stop was Kota Kinabalu, where we stayed for 4 days. The first day was completely written off as we were so jet lagged. The second day we ventured to the Mount Kinabalu Botanical Gardens and Hot Springs. Unfortunately the Mountain itself was closed due to the Earthquake that had happened a week or two before. The next day we went on a river cruise, to see some true Malaysian wildlife - monkeys and fireflies. This was an amazing experience, which I would thoroughly recommend.
Kota Kinabalu was my least favourite of the places we visited in Borneo, but it was a good place to be based. Unfortunately we did not have the best weather, it was very hot, cloudy and humid the first three days, and on our final day we had monsoon weather. We had hoped to pop over to the islands which I am sure would have made our experience of Kota Kinabalu better, maybe we will travel back there one day.
Next up, a real jungle experience - Mulu National Park.
